400 Miles: Party at the Waterfall

I celebrated a milestone over the weekend, hiking my four-hundredth trail
mile of the year!  A few friends and members of my Facebook hiking club joined me on the hike down to Sturtevant Falls in the Angeles National Forest. 

Along with the ten essentials, I packed an item we all agreed to be essential for such a special hike: beer.  A keg of beer, in fact.  I carried a 11-pound Widmer Hefeweizen Mini-Keg and cracked it open at the falls, sharing with both friends and strangers alike. We finished off the 5 liters and hiked stumbled out of Big Santa Anita Canyon.

Now I’ve just got one hundred miles to go to accomplish one of my big goals for 2010!
